Denise is the mother of seven children and has been home schooling with a classical curriculum for twenty-one years. Three of her children have now successfully graduated from college and are pursuing interests in writing, teaching English abroad, and business. She is a great supporter of teaching students the art of discussion, as well as being a great fan of memory work and the importance of Latin in the curriculum. She has a great love of literature and theater and is dedicated to bringing the classics alive for her students and to reveal to them the beauty of language and its power over the human heart. To that end, she founded a small theater company called Patchwork Theater where she is the artistic director. She has produced over 35 plays for high school and young adults and given her students the opportunity to write their own plays, to compose music for the productions, and to experiment with props and sets. Denise has also taught creative writing and Shakespeare. She looks forward to bringing literature alive for the Berea students and to introduce them to the wonderful world of Latin.
